## Wonderful Family Stay at The Castle Dalian

We stayed as a family for four nights at The Castle Dalian and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our spacious and beautifully decorated room on the 12th floor offered stunning views of the sea, making our stay truly memorable. The hotel’s entrance lobby is impressively large and elegantly designed, creating a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. For families with children, there is a large play area available, which requires an additional fee. Fortunately, hotel guests receive a discounted rate. Outside, the hotel boasts a charming small park with fantastic views over the bay and lovely landscaping—perfect for a relaxing stroll. The hotel is situated on a small hill, so the walk back to the city center is a bit long. However, the free shuttle bus service is very convenient, providing easy transport down to the city and back. Our room was thoughtfully furnished and very spacious, including a large and well-equipped bathroom. One minor downside was that there was only one power outlet next to the bed (on one side only), and no USB ports for charging phones, which would have been a nice addition. Breakfast and other meals at the hotel were delicious, with a rich selection of both Chinese and Western dishes to choose from. The only area for improvement would be the cleanliness of the restrooms in the breakfast restaurant, which unfortunately were often untidy and in need of more frequent attention. The swimming pool, maintained at 27°C, was not ideal for small children as there is no separate kids’ section. Guests should also note that wearing a swim cap is mandatory. The pool area includes a mini Finnish sauna and a steam sauna integrated into the changing rooms. However, there are only loungers next to the pool, so the sauna experience was quite different from the relaxing sauna visits we are used to in Europe. Overall, The Castle Dalian offers a lovely stay with beautiful views, excellent food, and family-friendly amenities, making it a great choice for travelers visiting the area.

A Stunning Architectural Landmark in Dalian

During my visit to Dalian, China, I had the chance to see the Castle City Hotel, and it was truly a breathtaking sight. Perched majestically over the city, the hotel’s grand European-style architecture makes it look like something straight out of a fairy tale. The intricate stonework, towering spires, and beautifully arched windows give it a regal, almost medieval charm, while its setting against the coastal skyline makes it even more spectacular. Walking around the exterior, I was amazed by the attention to detail in the design, from the elegant balconies to the beautifully landscaped surroundings. Even though I didn’t stay at the hotel, it’s worth visiting just for the architecture alone. If you’re in Dalian, this is definitely a must-see landmark, whether for photography, sightseeing, or just to admire its beauty up close!

... in Dalian you can at the Castle Hotel. The whole place is a magnificent folly built on the mountain-side and overlooking the sea with suberb views - and located near to Xinghai Square. The accommodation is very comfortable, excellent beds and bedding. Staff are attentive and most helpful. Metro a few minutes walk away and taxis are plentiful for visiting this sprawling and attractive sea-side city. The Castle is doubtless the best hotel experience in Dalian; there is just one thing lacking: an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers for the warmer months. I look forward to returning!

A big disappointment

A big disappointment. Checked in at 21:45 - the front desk staff were particularly surly. Asked about food and drink options. We were told that all F&B finished at 22:00. Turns out the bar actually shuts at 20:00. The room had multi-stained carpet and grubby dirty windows. The hotel is clearly a favorite with families with young kids. Feels like a second-rate casino hotel. Friends stayed at the nearby Grand Hyatt. I wish I had done the same.

Likely the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. Not only is the hotel luxurious in every way, the service is of the same quality. As a titanium member of Marriott I was upgraded to a large ocean view suite. The sleep quality of the bed was wonderful. A six diamond property. I also liked the courtesy buggy rides up and down castle hill.

The architecture of the hotel is very spectacular! Likewise, the rooms are beautifully designed and well-done. The materials in the rooms are of good quality. Also breakfast was enough. There was a big swimming pool. Around hotel there was nothing like market for shopping small things.

The staff was very inviting and accommodating. The buffet had some excellent choices. We also ate at Zhen Bao Restaurant and the Food an Beverage Manager Peter Wang was very nice and made excellent suggestion for us

I would have given 5 stars, however, our bathroom had mold (I am unable to upload pictures). I was shocked to see mold in the bathroom, we paid $400 on average per night and it was shocking the bathroom had mold. The rest of the room was great. We used the spa and it was run by a third party, the massage and facial were not great, the service was very pricey and it was underwhelming. We had lunch at one of the restaurants and it was good. As far as using the shuttle to do down (because it is uphill to get to the hotel) you have to use the shuttle which takes you back and forth. I appreciate the service, however, if you are down, you will have to call the hotel, unless you have an international call on your phone you cannot call the hotel since it is a local Chinese number, and also the service stops at 10 PM. Most of the days we had to take a taxi from downhill to the hotel. I wish they had the service running till 11:30 PM.

Having been in many many hotels during my travels, this definitely tops the cake! The magnificence of the design, externally and internally, made the experience and the stay one of a kind. Service was great and there were many facilities on site. Staff look to cater to your needs and they deliver. P.S. Room and view was also spectacular

Mostly about the location

The location is right next to the sea and it's certainly an opulent hotel but for the price it's just ok. Gym is above average, breakfast is extremely cramped and crowded, the lounge hasn't been open in a while. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you wanted easy access to the hiking trails or the nearby xinghai square. There aren't many choices for bonvoy hotels in Dalian however.

A Short Visit to The Castle Hotel, Dalian

The Castle Hotel has been a landmark in the city of Dalian, China since its establishment back in 2014. Its palatial Bavarian castle façade and luxury amenities attract travelers around the world to visit Dalian just to stay at the hotel. Even travelers like me, who did not choose to stay at this hotel, must come to give it a visit to its public areas. The hotel is only steps from Xinghai Square, the city square, and minutes’ drive from most of the sightseeing sites. If you would like to come via public transportation, the subway station is about 20 minutes’ walk away. During frequent raining weathers this season and heavy winds near the sea, taxi is a better way. Because the hotel is situated atop Lianhua Mountain. There is a short climbing from the gate to the actual entrance into the building. Visitors not staying the hotel can walk or take the hotel golf cart. The walk takes about 20 minutes. Those staying at the hotel can also drive their own vehicles to the parking lot. On the way up to the hotel, the first to pass is the selling center of the castle. The majority of the castle is the hotel, but the right wing is open to real estate buyers. The hotel occupies the center building of the castle. It has 263 guest rooms and 29 guest suites on 19 floors. The castle also has an extended part to the right. After reaching the end of the road, the front entrance of the hotel came into view. From the front entrance, you can get the best view in Dalian overlooking the Xinghaiwan Bridge above the ocean. This bridge has an incredible 6,000-meter length. Turn right a little bit, you can see Dalian Shell Museum (shell-like building) and Grant Hyatt Dalian (tall building after the museum). On both sides of the main entrance, trees and grasses are planted to add a little vibrant green. Enter the hotel, first came into eyes is the magnificent lobby and front desk. Needless to say much, look at the pictures. Pass through the front desk area, the lobby came into view. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea here while admiring the luxury. During the pandemic when the executive lounge is closed, this is also the place to enjoy happy hour. Look up, the ceiling is decorated by a huge glass dome with warm lights. According to some report, the owner of the hotel is also a collector. Many furniture in the hotel are bought from Europe at a big price and then shipped to China. Walking in the hotel feels like walking in a European museum. Even the door of the elevator are fully made of copper. From the floor guidance, we can see that there is a buffet restaurant and a Chinese restaurant on the first floor. Second floor has a few ballrooms. The fitness center and SPA are on the third floor. On the fifth floor, there is a bar, a cellar, and an esplanade. Now let us go to the fifth floor to take a look at the esplanade. Here, you can enjoy the extended view of the blue sky and ocean. This is a great place for portrait pictures. There is also a small fountain decorated by lavender. There is a beautiful garden on both sides of the esplanade. Walking inside feels refreshing like you are not in a noisy city anymore. The Castle Hotel, Dalian is definitely a place that I will come again in the future. Hope next time I have the chance to stay in the hotel to fully experience its services. This time, even it is just a short visit to the public areas, I can already feel the luxury in its brand, the Luxury Collection. As a hotel built in 2014, I cannot feel its aging at all. All furniture is clean and shows its originally resplendent. The collections in the hotel make a further distinction from normal business hotels. For travelers who want to experience a difference, I highly recommend the castle. Many Luxury Collection hotels in China were rebranded in the past few years. Hope this unique brand can keep its top place in Dalian. Thanks for reading!

Great hotel. Excellent service and outstanding view. And the featured COBASE SPA on the 3rd floor is above expectations, with hot spring, and massage as well as private sauna. Definitely a place worth to visit!. Outstanding in every way, after 20years in China, I’d say this is the best hotel in China

We visited the property on a busy weekend and had an exceptional stay. The quality of the service was outstanding. The resort is in excellent shape and has a great location with spectacular views of the city, mountains and the sea. The food in the restaurants was quite good and reasonably priced. The attention to detail of the staff was also exceptional. We will return in another two weeks.

Stunning hotel

Such a beautiful hotel high on the hill overlooking the ocean and Xinghai Square. The service is 5 star, the day spa is huge and very relaxing. Our room was lovely and well maintained. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of Western and Chinese food. We can't wait to stay again!

Amazing castle experience hotel in Far East Asia

Always wanted to stay at a castle hotel in my dream. Well, most of the castle hotels with prestige accommodation in Europe are all ridiculous expensive, then The luxury collection of Dalian castle hotel showed up and became the must have experience on my hotel list. The hotel is situated by the ocean front, not any near the beach, but has a great view of the ocean and harbor bridge. It’s gorgeous in the sunset. As soon as you step inside of the hotel, you would be amazed by the beautiful French decor in the grant lobby filled with crystal Chandelier and luxury furniture. The front desk staff Icey welcomed me warmly and assisted me in check in smoothly. By no time, I was at my ocean front view suite. She walked me in the suite and introduced all the amenities inside. Thanks to her and her team amazing hospitality, I had a very enjoyable time with the hotel. The bar on the 5th floor and a courtyard were also lovely to spend time at. The gym has all the basic equipments I need for a good workout session after having some great meals in the lobby restaurant. Two thumb up to recommend this great hotel and allow me to have a one night castle experience in Dalian, China.

Amazing as Expected

My stay at the Castle started off with a pretty “chaotic” check in experience - it was 6pm, I did mobile check-in as an elite member, yet the front desk agent struggled to find me a room that was ready. That caught me off guard a bit but the situation was eventually sorted out after ~15 minutes. I went up to my room and was very pleasantly surprised by what it had to offer. My room was very spacious and well-lit. I was not a fan of the decor but meanwhile I have to say that the design was tasteful nonetheless. Bathroom amenities were above and beyond what I expected with a full smart bidet washlet available and a huge tub and sink vanity. I expected to have a decent view but oh boy it was way better than “decent” - instead of the featureless ocean I was expecting to see, I had a view of the entire west end of downtown Dalian, the Bohai Bay and a giant bridge, which put on an amazing “light show” every single night - surely the best part of my stay. My housekeeping lady was very pleasant as well, always smiling and proactively asked about my preferences and schedule so she can fit her service better into my routine - she even offered me water to go when I departed into the 30 degree heat - can't ask for a better housekeeper! One little thing I found slightly annoying though - the hotel is located in a reserved hilltop area, very secure but it seems that after their shuttle stops at 7pm you are on your own to walk up and down the hill. It's approximately 10-15 minutes of a walk, and I found it physically demanding to myself. My partner loved it though and laughed at me the whole way up when I was busy catching my breath... thought I'd mention this, not a deal breaker though. In general, albeit the higher room rate, I would still call this my favourite hotel in Dalian - it's really in its own league in the city, in that it is not only a luxury hotel, but also a luxury hotel with characters.

Great Hotel Still room for improvement

I come to Dalian quite often (2-3 times per year) and I stayed in the Castle hotel most of time. The hotel is in a great location with impressive decor. Ocean view is fantastic I read some of negative comments below on their service. At least from my experiences (counting maybe 10 times of stay, each time 1-2 weeks), I have to say their service is top notch. Staff are super friendly. The dinning managers Peter Wang and Troy Wang are super professional and very helpful. Andy Yang Yu in concierge is super friendly. I have been treated very well by them. Thank you!!! However, by staying in the Castle for many times, I do observe that the quality of breakfast is slightly declining. The selection is less. The popular watermelon juice is not as fresh and condensed as before. Something needs to improve in future. Overall, I had a great time in the Castle hotel. Thanks again for all you have done!

Stylish wedding but...

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights due to a family wedding. The hotel itself has a good atmosphere and the best overview on Dalian. Wedding was well executed and the food for lunch was good considering the 200 guests. At the same time, there were many bad things that cannot be accepted by a Luxury hotel of Bonvoy group. Bars are horrible and there isn’t a single professional bartender, service is slow and totally inefficient. Getting a drink on the terrace 5th floor is so hard, we had to beg everyday for somebody to come and serve us. Toilets in the common areas (2nd and 5th floor) are dirty and without paper, bad smell and sigarettes. Towels in the rooms are falling apart (please buy some new ones) and the smell in the bathroom wasn’t so pleasant. Since a night stay is quite expensive, i do expect it to be at high standards. Great location but everything else is poorly managed.

A holiday turned into a nightmare. 噩梦般的体验。

We booked the Castle hotel for 2 nights for a holiday, and the experience there turned into a nightmare. The service was unbearable and the instead of providing service, the staff tend to argue with the clients with A VERY ARROGANT ATTITUDE. They change their minds all the time: when we were a bit late for our breakfast (we believed it was 2-3 mins and they claimed it was 9 mins), two staff arrogantly told us to go away as we were late (instead of letting us quickly grab something to eat, after all we payed over 400 RMB for that breakfast). We then decided to go straight to lunch, but they claimed there were no available tables (no reserved tables for stay-in clients). After we complained, suddenly the lunch table were available, and a guy who claimed to be the restaurant manager called us, only to give a very unsincere apology (and let us know the people who told us to go away were not in the service team but in the kitchen team, like it matters). Then he offered us some fruites, which was not what we needed at all when we were starving, and funnily that fruites never appeared and he never offered a real solution. After that they claimed that it was us who rejected the fruites. Second morning we went to breakfast on-time, and the tea&coffee never appeared until we asked for times. The table next to us was complaining about the same thing: they take your order for tea or coffee, and they don't bring it until you ask. Not to mention the resurant didn't even have some cheese or olives to offer. When we checked out, we questioned about the bill of the breakfast, and after ages of waiting (we had a flight to catch and they really took their time), the restuarant manager, Mr. Troy Wang showed up, and again, ARROGANTLY told us there is no solution that they could offer, but some fruits (again, the fruits that never showed up)! So, in general, the service was a joke. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. No need to pay hundreds of dollars to be insulted. 我们在大连城堡酒店定了两个晚上，作为一个周末假期。真真实实有了噩梦般的体验。 酒店的服务人员态度极差，根本不想解决问题，只是想傲慢地向你证明你是错的，而他们是对的。 我们第一天早上吃早餐的时候晚了几分钟（我们认为是两三分钟，他们说是9分钟），两个服务人员态度非常不好的让我们走开，因为早餐时间已经过了。连我们随便进去盛点稀饭吃一口（毕竟我们付了400多的早餐钱，而且餐厅里很多人都仍在吃饭）都不可以。 接下来我们决定算了，直接订桌吃午餐，他们又告诉我们午餐没位置（因为对外部客人开放，所以位置定完了，对住店客人完全没有预留，也没有优先。）也就是说，如果你住在酒店，又不想吃room service，那你就只能饿着。 在我们投诉以后，一个女性工作人员给我们打电话，忽然又可以安排位置了。然后一个男性工作人员（后来得知名字叫Troy Wang）打电话过来，给了一个非常不真诚的解决方案：给盘水果打发我们。在我们表达的不满以后，水果也没有给我们（后来说是我们自己不要的）。挂了电话就没有下文，完全不想提供任何解决方案。 第二天，我们准时去餐厅吃早餐，先不说餐厅的种类有限（连个奶酪或橄榄都没有），服务员问了我们要茶还是咖啡以后，根本就忘了这茬，我们提醒以后才临时去去了咖啡给我们。邻桌也在抱怨一样的问题：他们问你想喝茶还是咖啡，但直到你提醒他们，才会送过来。 退房的时候，我们账单提出了疑问，在等了很久以后（先是等大堂经理，然后又要等餐厅经理，完全不顾我们有飞机要赶），餐厅经理终于出现，态度非常差。在告诉我们除了送我们点水果以外没有任何其他解决方式以后（那盘从来没出现的水果，呵呵），就甩开我们走掉了，根本不想解决问题。 综合，我们饿了肚子，又惹了一肚子气。每晚2000多的酒店（我们定的还是豪华海景房），就这种服务，也太差劲了。听我的，选个别的吧，大连好酒店多了去了。不必来受这个气。

Stay here but eat elsewhere

We were impressed by photos but thought it might not be as cool in person- well, it is! I’ve been to Neuschwanstein twice and I could really see the influence here, although only on the outside. If you’ve been, you know that you can take a horse carriage up the hill. They don’t have horses here but they do have a fancy antique car to transport guests up and down for free. Once down, beach and attractions are walking distance. Interior is very opulent, stunning and bright compared to the dark interior of the real Neuschwanstein. We booked ocean view and it did not disappoint. Luxurious open-concept bathroom reminded me of staying in Palazzo in Las Vegas. First room we got smelled strongly of mildew which I would normally just tolerate but I already had a cold and knew it would be exacerbated, so went back and Mr. Daniel Wang helped us change rooms. Second room much better. If you don’t speak Chinese, find Mr. Daniel Wang. He speaks very good English, he is also very attentive, helpful and kind. One thing disappointed us was the service in Royal Cellar restaurant. We checked-in pretty late, and hungry. First time in Dalian, too late to go down in the city exploring for food. Just wanted a bite at the hotel and then sleep. We saw the terrace from our room and decided pizza and drinks with a view sounded perfect. It was quiet, only 3-4 other occupied tables. We ordered pizza and two drinks around 21:30. We enjoyed the view, finished the drinks and pizza still wasn’t coming. It finally came, around 22:30, we asked for a second drink and they said no because last call is 22:30. We were not told that... just wanted another beverage to go with our pizza. We finally convinced them. At 22:45 they brought us only my drink, forgetting my boyfriend’s beer, and the bill which we paid right away and didn’t ask again for the beer since it wasn’t on the check. Keep in mind during this 15 minutes hassle we’ve barely started eating. Now we’ve paid, and have two pizzas and one cocktail to share we begin to eat. Almost immediately we are approached again by a girl shouting at us, yes shouting while a few other employees watched amusedly, in very bad English that they are closing at 23 and we need to finish and leave. We looked at each other in disbelief because they could see we were still eating and it was their fault the food took so long in the first place! We just said, okay we are trying to finish, and she went away. Well they wasted no time turning off all the terrace lights at 22:59:59 leaving us in the dark! Unfortunately we also noticed that the two other tables next to us with Chinese people did not get the same treatment......?! At this point we knew we are not welcome anymore and went back to the room in shock. I worked 4 years in Marriott Food & Beverage and I know they would not tolerate such service if they knew. It is not a cultural issue, we live in Shenyang, China and this never happens to us in restaurants there. For this reason, we avoided the hotel breakfast but we did order coffee to-go which was real, strong coffee and not the typical Chinese instant powder, but they cost 7€ each. Looking in the door, the spread looked large. We also tried the lobby lounge bar on the second evening which looks cool but the cocktails tasted watery and the live music was, I’m sorry to say, very very bad. I can’t comment on the pool because we didn’t use it, only the beach nearby. Also didn’t use the spa because the prices were too high. On our last day, we had a late evening train so asked the front desk if we could leave our bags after checkout while we went to the beach and then shower at the spa upon return. Instead they just offered us 17:00 checkout for free! We were able to enjoy our last day worry-free. All-in-all we really enjoyed our stay here and wish it was longer than two nights. Stay here you will love it but eat elsewhere :)

チェックイン、チェックアウトに時間が切りすぎる。ただし急いでいたため、スタッフに話したところ、コンシェルジュが対応してくれて、その後はとてもスムーズかつ丁寧な対応であった。チェックインカウンターのスピードに改善されれば素晴らしいホテル。

Good hotel in the North of China

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during a business trip in China. The hotel is very impressive, since it is a Castle. Check in was quite slow, as they are taking facial recognition from all Chinese guests. The room was lovely with a great view over the bay and a comfortable bed. The slippers and bathrobe were most likely some of the best I had ever have during a hotel stay. The breakfast was unfortunately very Eastern, with limited choices, if one does not fancy Chinese food and seafood for breakfast too much. Also, not all the staff was able to communicate in English, which made asking for a coffee spoon during breakfast a bit of an adventure, having 4 different waiters coming to the table to try to understand what I had asked for.

Unpleasant service

It was my first visit to Dalian with my family and we chose to stay in this hotel because the overall environment seemed nice. Before arriving at the hotel, I called the front desk to ask check-in time and I was told the room would be ready by 3pm. So we spent some time around the hotel and got to the hotel around 3:30pm. I went to the front desk to check in and the receptionist told me the room is not ready so we had to wait 30 more minutes. It was already past the regular check in time but all they said was “sorry the room is not ready.” Last time when the same incident happened in a different hotel, they offered us an upgraded room for having to wait extra time. But this hotel’s service made us pretty upset. We waited at the lobby past 4pm but nobody informed us the room was ready. I’ve been to hundreds of hotels in different countries and this hotel had the worst service. Would never visit here again.

到店无预定房型

到酒店，告知所预定的房型没有了。说给一个所谓的城景套房，要求海景，说没有海景了。只能将就。花了1700多一晚，连个海景都不能保证，那为什么要确认订单呢？

風呂の排水と脱衣場への浸水注意！中国ではよくある事ですが。。。 両替には時間がかかりすぎる。。。

Best of the best

I had the best ever massage at this Hotel. The masseuse was professional and the room was soothing. The dinner menu covered different cuisines and all dishes were appetizing and presentable. Services were exceptional. However, I do not think that outside fast food deliveries should be allowed in this Hotel, it doesn’t go well with its image.

Didn’t know you had to have a swim cap for the pool. That would have been nice to know in advance.

Magnificent property, terrible staff, rooms very poor lacking thermostat to control heat/AC. Nothing close to a five star rating.

Very convenient land famous location, excellent services, and wonderful food,food and themes

Premier tourist location with convenient access to Xinhai Square abd Binhai Road. English service limited at times. Many non-resident guests enter the property and take photos. Breakfast food service very mediocre from 45 minutes before closing. Food sometimes not replenished even from 30 minutes remaining in service time. Late night in room dining mediocre. Ceasar Salad lettuce was not properly washed of soil / dirt. Visible brown spots. Serving cart lacked a table napkin. All other criterion were superb i.e. housekeeping, business center service and fitness center. Phenomenal spa retreat.

The hotel has a good view

A very good hotel. However, the pool is for maintenance during my stay of 4 days. Wish to get the maintenance notice before my arrival.

Bath tub cap not working. Restroom was full of bad smell. I saw hair on the floor and in towels. The soundproofing facility was too bad. Not going back to this hotel again!!

Hotel service is not as good as its hardware

Hotel hardware is fine, but the service was not good at all - only 3 people work in the front desk for checking in and out, guests have to line up for a REALLY LONG time; Hotel locates on the hill, the service car that supposed to send guests downhill sometimes got cancelled because they’re too busy; Lobby is crowded and noisy, it’s more like a tour place instead of a 5 star hotel
