This is the highest level of service I've ever experienced. I literally want to return just for that!!!

  • Wifi would cut out a little. No big deal. That was the only thing!!! I am someone who hates hotels, always preferring BnBs. But this place blew me away!!!!

Lovely hotel, good location

Lovely hotel and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Really good selection of food for breakfast with Taiwanese, Asian Japanese and Western food. Location is good as is not too far from Taipei 101 and Freedom Square. Closest metro station is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

A Great Stay

I had a great stay, the hotel did a fine job across departments. It is a whopper with 420 rooms, but everywhere is sleek and well maintained. Taipei is a sprawling city, it’s hard to define what you’d call central, but the location of the Shangri-La is as well placed as any. My 101 View Room certainly did what it said on the tin, with its large, picture window overlooking the tower and beyond. These rooms are spacious, with comfy beds, beverage facilities and mini-bar. Excellent WiFi and plentiful sockets also. It would have been useful if there had been the option of brighter lighting for makeup etc. The gorgeous, marble clad bathrooms boast both shower and bath tub. I didn’t take breakfast, but dined in Shanghai Palace, which has good views and excellent service, though my meal was unmemorable. I really enjoyed both bars, the prettily decorated Li Bai which closes at 930pm, and the Marco Polo, a very ambient spot with magnificent views, serving till 12-12.30pm. Overall then, I was impressed with the Shangri-La Taipei, and could happily recommend it.

Relaxing, upscale holiday break in Taipei

We spent Christmas in Taipei at the Shangri-La Far Eastern. Like other hotels in this chain, it was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. There are bars and restaurants on site, the rooms are very large and well appointed. We reserved two rooms for four guests. The rates are really good for the hotel, possibly because it is a little out of the way—the center of gravity in Taipei has sort of shifted towards the Taipei 101 hotels. We loved the staff. Kyle was particularly helpful. All the staff were efficient and helpful. Everyone speaks at least Mandarin and English, and some spoke other languages as well. The blend of tourists and locals there for the holiday made for a great atmosphere. There’s a night market about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We took cabs from the hotel to the major attractions in Taipei, and the staff were helpful in arranging that for us. Finally, the elaborate holiday decorations made us feel right at home and made spending Christmas there feel special. Loved this hotel.
